The chansonnière Sylva Varescu and the prince’s son Edwin are madly in love and want to get married, but the difference in social standing – and, above all, Edwin’s parents – make things difficult for them. Edwin is expected to marry Countess Stasi, whose heart, however, belongs to another. Amidst jealousy, engagements, break-ups, revelations and plenty of heartache, will the lovers finally find their way back to each other in the end?
