The choreographic language and legacy of Uwe Scholz is internationally recognised and undoubtedly legendary. As choreographer and ballet director from 1991 until his death in 2004, he was instrumental in shaping the programme and identity of the Leipzig Ballet to this day.

»Scholz Symphonies« is a new compilation of two great symphonic ballets by Uwe Scholz and a tribute to this exceptional artist.

In the four-movement choreography to Robert Schumann’s Second Symphony, joy and sorrow, happiness and struggle are revealed in the movement motifs of the neoclassical tradition. Uwe Scholz’s trademark, his extraordinary musicality, is evident here as well as in the Seventh Symphony with music by Ludwig van Beethoven. With the »Seventh«, Scholz has created an extremely detailed and tender work, full of affirmation and joy
