Biography
Rob Pelzer received his training in Amsterdam and London. In his native Netherlands, he appeared in productions including »Foxtrot«, »The Last Five Years«, »The Lion King« and »Rex« (Rex). In Vienna, he appeared in the world premiere of »Mozart!« (alternating as Wolfgang Mozart), »The Producers« (Carmen Ghia), and most recently as Monsieur André in Cameron Mackintosh’s new production of »The Phantom of the Opera« at the Raimund Theater. Also in Vienna: the comedy »Boeing Boeing Andersrum« and the one-man show »Ein wenig Farbe«. At the State Theaters in Nuremberg and Darmstadt, he appeared in »Catch Me If You Can« (Carl Hanratty); in Munich, in »The Fabulous World of Amélie« (Dufayel/Collignon); in Helfenberg, in »The Pirates of Penzance« (Major General), and at the Graz Opera in »Gigi« and »Guys and Dolls« (Nathan Detroit). He played the hospital ghost in »Ghost« in Linz and at the Operettenhaus in Hamburg. In Bad Hersfeld, he appeared in »Goethe!« (Father) and »Jesus Christ Superstar« (King Herod). At the Dortmund Opera, he performed in »Songs for a New World«, the revue »Berlin Skandalös«, »Märchen im Grand-Hotel« (Prince Andreas), and in »Cabaret« (Master of Ceremonies). While performing in »Cabaret« in Dortmund, he also appeared as the Master of Ceremonies in »Cabaret« at the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus.
As a founding member of the musical theater department at the Landestheater Linz, he appeared in more than 20 productions, including »Honk« (Tom), »Babytalk« (Robert), »Les Misérables« (Thénardier), »Company« (Bobby), »Grand Hotel« (Kringelein), »Into the Woods« (Baker), »Assassins« (Guiteau), and »Betty Blue Eyes« (Gilbert Chilvers). In 2017, he received the Richard Tauber Medal in Linz and the German Musical Theater Award in Berlin for his role as Passepartout in »Around the World in 80 Days«. In the summer of 2026, he appeared at the Kulturfabrik in Helfenberg in the new Mason/Zaufke musical »When Hitler Stole the Pink Rabbit«. In addition to his work on stage, he has done voice-over work for film and television.
At the Musikalische Komödie, he will make his debut during the 2026/27 season as Viktor von Ephrussi in the musical »The Hare with Amber Eyes«.
