Biography
Markus Syperek was born in Kiel in 1981. He studied conducting, piano and singing in Lübeck and Karlsruhe. From 2003 to 2006, he worked as a solo coach and musical director at the Volkstheater Rostock, working on both opera and drama productions. Since 2006, he has lived in Berlin, taking on engagements as a conductor, composer and arranger at theatres in Berlin, Linz, Braunschweig, Halle, Baden-Baden, Kiel, Rostock and Hamburg, amongst others, as well as at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, the Potsdam Sanssouci Music Festival and the European Weeks Passau Festival. In addition, he performs as a solo pianist, chamber musician and accompanist at recitals spanning classical, chanson and musical theatre repertoire. Since 2023, he has enjoyed a close collaboration with the chanson singer Vladimir Kornéev and the actress Eva Mattes. As a pianist, he performs regularly with, amongst others, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Konzerthaus Orchestra, the Berlin Radio Choir and the Berlin State Opera under conductors such as Daniel Harding, Kirill Petrenko, Simon Rattle, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Jakob Hrůša and others. At the Berlin State Opera, he conducted the world premiere of Oscar Strasnoy’s »Robinson« in 2023. Since 2024, he has made several guest appearances as a conductor and pianist with the BR Munich Radio Orchestra. As an orchestrator and arranger, he works for, amongst others, BR, WDR, NDR, the Bruckner Orchestra Linz and the Konzerthaus Berlin.
