Biography
Francesc Abós is a choreographer and director. Since 2007, the Spanish-born artist has been creating choreography for musicals, musical theatre, variety shows and television. He has choreographed for artists including David Guetta and Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child. From 2011 to 2017, he was the choreographer and co-director of the cabaret »Lío« in Ibiza. His theatre work includes »Candide«, »Spamalot«, »Forever Young«, »Scaramouche«, and »A Touch of Venus« at the Staatsoperette Dresden. He also co-directed the Spanish premiere of »Der Medicus«. He also directed »Colors and More Colors« and »Wonderful Mahler« at the Palau de la Música in Barcelona. He has enjoyed a long-standing collaboration with Henry Mason. At the Landestheater Linz, he choreographed Mason’s world premiere production of »The Hare With Amber Eyes« which was awarded the German Musical Theatre Prize. Together they also worked on »A Midsummer Night’s Dream« at the Salzburg Festival, »The Wizard of Oz«, »Carousel« and »The Magic Flute« at the Volksoper Wien, as well as »Guys & Dolls« at the Graz Opera. For the Tecklenburg Open-Air Theatre, he choreographed »Mozart!«, »Mamma Mia!« and »3 Musektiere«, the latter directed by Andreas Gergen. Together with Gergen, he also staged »Jesus Christ Superstar« at the Nuremberg State Theatre and »Roxy and Her Wonder Team« at the Vienna Volksoper. Since 2009, he has regularly worked as dance supervisor on the original Broadway version of »Chicago« for productions across Europe. Most recently, he choreographed »Wicked«, »The Merry Widow« and »Matilda« at the Bühne Baden, where he also co-directed »The Bird Seller«. His upcoming projects there include choreography for »Disney’s The Little Mermaid« and directing »The Addams Family«.
