Biography
A native of Magdeburg, he graduated with honors in 2011 from the Berlin University of the Arts with a degree in Musical Theater/Show. His credits include »One Touch of Venus« (Anhaltisches Theater Dessau), »Ein Herz sucht einen Parkplatz«, Joschi in »Mein Avatar und ich« (both at the Neuköllner Oper Berlin), and in the world premiere of Hape Kerkeling’s »Kein Pardon«, where he played Peter Schlönzke (Capitol Theater Düsseldorf and Musikalische Komödie Leipzig). In Vienna, he appeared as Lowell and Emmett Forrest in »Natürlich Blond« at the Ronacher, as well as Sky in »Mamma Mia!« and Peter in »Jesus Christ Superstar« at the Raimund Theater. He then moved on to the Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich, where he created the role of Ritchie in Thomas Herrmann’s »Bussi«. He also played Joe in the German-language premiere of »9 to 5« at the Zeltpalast in Merzig, David in »Sarg Niemals Nie« at the Bar jeder Vernunft in Berlin, Edelbert von Grootfru Jr. in »Cindy Reller«, Hunter in »[Title of the Show]« (both at the Schmidt Theater in Hamburg), and Freddy in »My Fair Lady« (Chemnitz Opera). Benjamin was cast in »Footloose« at the Staatstheater Darmstadt, where he appeared as Willard Hewitt.
This was followed by engagements at the Comödie Dresden (Poldi in »Oh Alpenglühn!«, Paul in »Spielplatzhirsche«, Dr. Mathieu in »Villa Sonnenschein«), the Magdeburg Opera (Mottel Kamzoil in »Anatevka«, Lord Evelyn Oakleigh in »Anything Goes«, E. W. Potterton in »Clivia«), at the Schwäbisch Hall Open-Air Theater (Seymour Krelbourn in »The Little Shop of Horrors«), at the Nuremberg State Theater (Link Larkin in »Hairspray«), Detmold State Theater (Caractacus Potts in »Tschitti Tschitti Bäng Bäng«), at the Bad Hersfeld Festival (Alan Deluca in »A Chorus Line«), as well as at the Saarland State Theater in Saarbrücken and the Heilbronn Theater (Claude Hooper Bukowski in »Hair«). Most recently, Benjamin appeared as Henry Jekyll/Edward Hyde in the musical of the same name at the Meiningen State Theater and as Nigel Bottom in »Something Rotten« at the Bad Hersfeld Festival.
At the Musikalische Komödie, he has already appeared as Peter Schlönzke in »Kein Pardon«, David Shayne in »Bullets Over Broadway«, Ozzie in »On the Town«, and, starting in 2026, as Young Iggie von Ephrussi in »The Hare with Amber Eyes«.
