From a model to the stage design in 100 seconds? It takes a little more time to get from the drawing to the stage decoration, from the figurine to the costume, so that we can dive into an exciting new world together. To realise the artistic ideas of the directing team, you need above all: the knowledge of material and artistic processes, imagination and a lot of experience. Where else can you find this number of old crafts other than: theatre painting, locksmithery, armourers? No performance would be conceivable without the magic hands of a wardrobe mistress, a shoemaker or a carpenter. In our theatre and costume workshops, centuries-old theatre and craft traditions meet new technologies and modern demands. And the fact that the workshops of the Oper Leipzig also work for the Schauspiel and the Theater der Jungen Welt is a result of the theatre's eventful history. And now: Curtain up for the crafts!
