Biography
Miha Brkinjač was born in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and is a freelance baritone. After receiving his first singing lessons in his hometown of Ljubljana from Prof. Alenka Slokar Bajc, he continued his studies at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin with Prof. Dr. Michail Lanskoi. From 2022 to 2024, he was a member of the Niederrhein Opera Studio at the Theater Krefeld and Mönchengladbach. He has worked with Wolfram Rieger, Peter Berne, Hedwig Fassbender, Rene Massis, Steffan Schleiermacher, Antonio Lemmo, among others, and has participated in various master classes. His most recent opera roles include Valentin in Gounod's »Margarethe« (Faust), Marullo in »Rigoletto«, Don Giovanni, Eugen Onegin, the Ferryman in Britten's »Curlew River«, and the Venetian in Rimsky-Korsakov's »Sadko«. He also performs in Germany and Slovenia as a concert and lieder singer with a particular fondness for German, Russian, and Slovenian art song repertoire and chanson, as well as an actor. In 2017, he was awarded the prize for »Best Actor/Comedian« for his role as Jean in Marc Camoletti's play »Pridi gola na večerjo / Pyjama pour six« at the Pekre Comedy Festival. In recent years, he has toured Germany with the Povezani company. Miha Brkinjač has received scholarships from the Cologne Gymnasium and Foundation Fund, the Ottilie Selbach Redlob Foundation, the Lucia Loeser Foundation, and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia.
In 2026, Miha Brkinjač sings at the New Year's concerts of the Musikalischen Komödie.
