Maria Viktoria Linke

Biography

Berlin director Maria Viktoria Linke studied theater studies, cultural studies and journalism at the University of Leipzig. In 2005, she took up her first engagement as a dramaturge at the Neues Theater Halle (Saale). There, Maria Viktoria Linke took over the artistic direction of the international festival of young theater and performance art »Stadt Deiner Liebe«, conceived and directed the venue »riff club« and curated the supporting program of »Theater der Welt« at the Neue Residenz in 2008. In 2009, she accepted a position at the Anhaltisches Theater Dessau. In close collaboration with the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation, she developed interdisciplinary productions and art events. In 2011, Linke moved to the Landestheater Tübingen, where she worked as head dramaturge and director until 2014 and held a teaching position at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen. From 2014 to 2017, Maria Viktoria Linke was acting director and head dramaturge for all divisions at the Staatstheater Augsburg. During this time, the trade journal Deutsche Bühne praised Schauspiel Augsburg for its »unusually convincing work away from major theater centers«. Since 2018, Linke has focused on her directing work. She has directed at the state theaters in Karlsruhe, Darmstadt and Oldenburg, among others.

Jacques Offenbach's »Orpheus in the Underworld« 2025 is her first work at the Musikalische Komödie.
