Biography
Studied at the Hochschule für Musik Cologne. He has participated in masterclasses with, among others, Monserrat Caballé and Hans Hotter. From 1997 – 2001 he was a member of the ensemble at the Hamburg State Opera. He has had guest appearances at the Staatsoper Berlin Unter den Linden, the Komische Oper Berlin, the Staatstheater Hannover, the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, the Staatstheater Darmstadt, the Ruhrtriennale, at the Lincoln Center Festival in New York, the Teatro Massimo Palermo, the Teatro Regio Torino, the Volksoper Vienna, the Graz Theater, the Opéra national du Rhin, and De Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam. He has appeared as a concert and oratorio singer at the Festival Pablo Casals Puerto Rico, the Oregon Bach Festival, the Musikfest Stuttgart, the Lucerne Music Festival, the Brucknerfestspiele Linz, the BBC Proms, the Dresden Music Festival, and the Händelfestspiele Halle. He has appeared the Oper Leipzig as Count Almaviva (»Le nozze di Figaro»), Klingsor in »Parsifal«, and Donner in »Das Rheingold». He appears as a guest in the 2021/22 season as the Technician/the Ghost of the Technician (»The Fall of the Antichrist»), as Alberich in »Das Rheingold« and »Götterdämmerung«, and as Klingsor in »Parsifal«.
