Biography
Elisabeth Köstner grew up in Upper Bavaria and found her way to the stage through singing. After training as a musical performer in Hamburg, she had numerous engagements, including as a permanent ensemble member of the musical division at the Theater für Niedersachsen in Hildesheim, which is unique in Germany. There she developed leading roles in the German-language premieres of »Dogfight«, »Jasper in Deadland« and, most recently, »Groundhog Day«, and has appeared in over 50 plays. Since 2023, she has been expanding her artistic work in the areas of writing and directing, most recently staging and producing the chamber musical »The Mad Ones« by Kerrigan & Lowdermilk as an independent project.
Elisabeth Köstner is a graduate of the Joop van den Ende Academy, Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences and LMU Munich, and a prize winner of the German National Singing Competition. She is on the board of the German Musical Academy, where she is responsible for the only open stage in the German-speaking world for new musical material (die schreib:maschine). She is also committed to improving the compatibility of family life and a career in theatre and is a founding member of Bühnenmütter* e. V. In 2020, she founded her own company, eklips.de, which offers online courses on (Instagram) marketing/visibility, helping creative professionals to establish and expand an authentic online presence.
