Elisabeth Strid

Biography

Was born in Sweden. She completed her vocal studies at the University of Stockholm. Since 2010, guest engagements have led her to the Semperoper Dresden, the Norske Opera Oslo, the Finnish National Opera Helsinki, the Latvian National Opera Riga, the Gotenburg Opera, the Vlaamse Opera Antwerpen, the Opéra de Lille, the Teatro Bellas Artes Mexico, and at the Bayreuth Festival, the Baltic Sea Festival Stockholm, Maifestspielen Wiesbaden, the Festival im Amphitheater Plovdiv, in Copenhagen and at the Wagner Days in Budapest. She made her US debut at the Michigan Oper in Detroit in 2013. She sang Sieglinde (»Die Walküre«) at the Lyric Opera Chicago in 2017. She has worked with conductors such as Andris Nelsons, Kirill Petrenko, Adám Fischer, Esa Pekka-Salonen, Ivan Anguélov, Lorin Maazel, and Kent Nagano, and with stage directors including Frank Castorf, Stefan Herheim, Barbe & Doucet, Aron Stiehl, and David Pountney. She appears regularly on the concert podium. She has appeared at the Oper Leipzig as Ada (»Die Feen«), Elisabeth (»Tannhäuser«), Senta (»Der fliegende Holländer«), Salome and Brünnhilde (»Siegfried«), and in the 2020/21 season was Sieglinde in »Der Ring an einem Abend«. In the 2021/22 season she returns as a guest to sing Sieglinde in »Die Walküre«, Elisabeth in »Tannhäuser«, Senta in »Der fliegende Holländer«, and Eva in »Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg«.
