Biography
Born in 1986 in Suhl, Thuringia, and raised in Eisenach. Acting studies at the Hochschule für Schauspielkunst Ernst Busch in Berlin. Alongside independent productions, guest engagements at Volkstheater Rostock, Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin and Schaubühne Berlin, among others. From 2013 to 2016 ensemble member at Staatsschauspiel Dresden, working with directors including Tilmann Köhler, Friederike Heller, Jan Gehler, Burkhardt Kosminski and Matthias Hartmann. Also developed and directed the musical format »Wunschkonzert«.
From 2016 to 2022 ensemble member at Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus. Working as a freelance actor and director since the 2022/23 season. Numerous leading roles in Düsseldorf under directors including Roger Vontobel, Simon Solberg, David Bösch, Sebastian Baumgarten, Bernadette Sonnenbichler, Robert Wilson, Tilmann Köhler and Evgeny Titov. Recipient of several awards, including »Best Actor in North Rhine-Westphalia« three consecutive times (Welt am Sonntag, 2017–2019) and the audience award »Gustaf« twice. In 2018 awarded the Förderpreis für Darstellende Kunst der Stadt Düsseldorf. 2020 appearance in the world premiere of Peter Handke's »Zdeněk Adamec« at the Salzburg Festival, directed by Friederike Heller. Since the 2023/24 season title role in Evgeny Titov's production of »Richard III.«, nominated for the 2024 FAUST theatre award.
Directing work in Düsseldorf since 2016, including several song recitals with musician Matts Johan Leenders. In 2017, co-directed the scenic installation »Jeff Koons« by Rainald Goetz with Felix Krakau. Further productions include »Alice«, »Orlando«, »Cabaret« and, in the 2023/24 season, »Der Teufel mit den drei goldenen Haaren« and »Das Sparschwein/Die Kontrakte des Kaufmanns«. 2024/25 production of »Die Märchen des Oscar Wilde erzählt im Zuchthaus zu Reading«, based on texts by Oscar Wilde. In 2025, direction of »Kiss Me, Kate« at Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar.
Numerous film and television appearances. Since January 2022 detective chief inspector in the RBB crime series »Polizeiruf 110«. Regular work for radio, radio plays, audiobooks, advertising and audio description. Also teaching acting at institutions including Folkwang Universität der Künste and HMT Leipzig. Joint director of the acting studio at Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus with dramaturg Stijn Reinhold.
