Opera and University

The close intermeshing of theory and practice is an important prerequisite for future professional life, especially in the field of theatre. The Oper Leipzig maintains close relationships with the universities and art academies as well as the University of the City of Leipzig. These include the areas of drama and musicology, but also the cultural sciences, where our employees regularly work as lecturers. Collaboration with the universities has resulted in numerous joint symposia, lecture series or collaborations in the form of smaller theatre projects. In addition, many students of the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Academy of Music and Theatre gain first stage experience on the stage of the Musical Comedy Theatre or the Opera House. We are happy to be the point of contact for a subject-specific audience, offer subject-specific lectures and career guidance or try to arrange rehearsal visits with your seminar. With the JuniorCard, university students have the opportunity to attend the performances of the Oper Leipzig for discounted prices.

A look behind the scenes for apprentices and university students

Why do you need trains in the opera house? What is a BO and what does a KBB do? Outside of the rehearsal times, we give groups an exciting look behind the scenes, offer meetings with employees of the house and provide insight into the everyday working life of very different areas. This is also possible before a visit to the theatre combined with an introduction.
