The Spanish choreographer Cayetano Soto is no stranger to Leipzig audiences. His work »Uneven« as part of the production »Soto / Scholz / Schröder« in the 2021/22 season impressed audiences with its precision, technical challenges, virtuosic elements and its intimate insight into the soul of a choreographer. This prompted Mario Schröder to invite Cayetano Soto to Leipzig for a second time. Last season, he created a biographical, associative ballet entitled »Tchaikovsky« for the Rijeka Ballet of the Croatian National Theatre, which will now be newly adapted for the Leipzig Ballet.
With his compositions, Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky influenced and formed classical ballet as only a few other composers have. The myth of his music remains alive to this day. Cayetano Soto draws an engaging portrait of a man who could not live the life he wanted. In »Peter I. Tchaikovsky«, audiences gain a glimpse behind the glamorous moments of a biography – of turmoil, courage and genius.
