Stephen Gould

Biografie

Was born in Virginia, USA and studied at the New England Conservatory of Music. After making the change to the Heldentenor Fach, he debuted Florestan in »Fidelio« at the Landestheater Linz. His repertoire includes roles such as the title roles in »Peter Grimes«, »Tannhäuser«, »Lohengrin«, »Otello«, »Siegfried«, »Parsifal«, »Oedipus Rex«, as well as Erik in »Der fliegende Holländer«, Kaiser in »Die Frau ohne Schatten«, Énée in »Les Troyens«, Bacchus/the Tenor in »Ariadne auf Naxos«, and Paul in »Die tote Stadt«. Guest engagements have led him to the opera houses in Berlin, Dresden, Rome, Vienna, Zurich, Geneva, Palermo, Triest, Oslo, Graz, Hamburg, London, New York, Tokyo, and to the Bayreuther Festspiele. He was named Austrian Kammersänger in 2015. He appears at the Oper Leipzig in the 2021/22 as the title role in »Siegfried«.
