Rebecca Ringst

Biografie

Was born in Berlin. She studied at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Dresden with Andreas Reinhardt. She’s worked closely with Calixto Bieito since 2006 on productions at the Komische Oper Berlin, they Bayerische Staatsoper and Residenztheater München, English National Opera London, National Theater und Den Norske Opera Oslo, Goodman Theatre Chicago, Birmingham Repertory Theatre, Opera Teatro Argentina, Oper Zürich, Staatsoper Stuttgart, Vlaamse Opera, Theater Freiburg, Staatstheater Nürnberg, Teatros del Canal Madrid, as well as the Betty Nansen Teatret Copenhagen, among others. Her set design for Stefan Herheim’s production of »Der Rosenkavalier« won the 2010 »Opernwelt« magazine prize for best set designer of the year. She was awarded the Spanish theater prize »Premio Max« for the set for »Forests« (Stage Director: Calixto Bieito) as well as the »Opernwelt« audience prize in 2016. She’s worked closely with Barrie Kosky since 2015 on productions for the Bayerische Staatsoper and the Komische Oper Berlin. She appears at the Oper Leipzig as the set designer for »Tannhäuser«.
