Olena Tokar


Was born in Ukraine. From 2002 – 06 she did her vocal studies in Lugansk (Ukraine), followed by further training at the National Tchaikovsky Academy in Kiev and at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Leipzig with Prof. Regina Werner. She is the winner of numerous competitions, including the International Singing Competition in St. Petersburg 2007, the Lortzing Competition Leipzig 2012, and the ARD Music Competition 2012. She made her debut at the Semperoper Dresden in 2016 as Marguerite in Faust. She was a junior member of the ensemble at the Oper Leipzig during the 2009/10 season, and the following season joined as a full-fledged member. Roles in the 2018/19 season include the Third Norn in Götterdämmerung, Liù in Turandot, the fifth maid in Elektra, Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier, Violetta in La traviata, Micaëla in Carmen, and Marie in The Bartered Bride. In the 2019/20 season she can be seen as Zdenka in Arabella and  as soprano in Missa solemnis. New 2020/21: Pamina in The Magic Flute.
