Nikolay Borchev

Biografie

Was born in in Pinsk/Belarus. He studied voice at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow and at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin. His first engagements took him to the Bayerische Staatsoper and the Wiener Staatsoper. His repertoire includes roles such as Posa (»Don Carlo«), the Count (»Le nozze di Figaro«), Papageno (»Die Zauberflöte«), Figaro (»Der Barbier von Sevilla«), Marcello (»La bohème«), Schneidebart (»Die schweigsame Frau«), Harlekin (»Ariadne auf Naxos«), Stolzius (»Die Soldaten«), Danilo (»Die lustige Witwe«), Aeneas (»Dido and Aeneas«) as well as the title roles in »Don Giovanni« and »Eugen Onegin«. He has appeared at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, at the Staatsoper Berlin, Staatsoper Hamburg, Staatsoper Stuttgart, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Oper Köln, Oper Frankfurt, Staatsoperette Dresden, Palau de les Arts Valencia, Ópera de Bilbao, Latvian National Opera, Theater an der Wien, Theater St. Gallen, Theater Basel, Théâtre de la Monnaie, Opéra de Lyon, Opéra du Rhin Strasbourg, Teatro Real, Carnegie Hall in New York as well as the festivals in Salzburg, Baden-Baden, and Glyndebourne. He once again will appear at the Oper Leipzig in the 2021/22 season as Morald in »Die Feen«.
