Markus Eiche

Biografie

Was born in in St. Georgen in Schwarzwald. He studied at the music conservatories in Karlsruhe and Stuttgart. He was a member of the ensemble at am Nationaltheater Mannheim, at the Wiener Staatsoper, and at the Bayerische Staatsoper. He’s been  a professor at the Freiburger Musikhochschule since 2018. His roles include Kurwenal (»Tristan und Isolde«), Donner (»Das Rheingold«), Gunther (»Götterdämmerung«), Beckmesser (»Die Meistersinger«), Ottokar (»Der Freischütz«), Musiklehrer (»Ariadne auf Naxos«), Faninal (»Der Rosenkavalier«), Graf (»Capriccio«), Luther (Krenek’s »Karl V«), Blaubart (»Blaubarts Burg«), Lescaut (»Manon Lescaut«), Golaud (»Pelléas et Mélisande«), Graf Tamare (»Die Gezeichneten«) as well as the title role in »Cardillac« and »Death in Venice«. He has bowed at the Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, La Scala di Milano, Opera Nomori in Tokyo, Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam, Finnish National Opera, Wiener Staatsoper, Oper Zürich, Staatsoper Berlin Unter den Linden, Komische Oper Berlin, Semperoper Dresden, Oper Stuttgart, as well as at the Bayreuther Festspiele, the Münchner Biennale, and the Wagner Festival in Budapest. He appears at the Oper Leipzig in the 2021/22 season as Wolfram von Eschenbach in »Tannhäuser und der Sängerkrieg auf Wartburg«.
