Enrico Lübbe


Was born in Schwerin. He studied communication, media, and theater studies at the Universität Leipzig. He was house director at the Schauspiel Leipzig from 2000 to 2004, and from 2005 to 2007 at the Neues Theater Halle. He has worked as a stage director at the Schauspiel Köln, Staatsschauspiel Stuttgart, Staatstheater Nürnberg, Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel München, Schauspiel Frankfurt, Berliner Ensemble, and at the Volkstheater Wien. He was director of drama from 2008 to 2013 at the Theater Chemnitz. He has been artistic director of the Schauspiel Leipzig since the 2013/14 season, where he has staged »Zeiten des Aufruhrs«, »Die Schutzflehenden/Die Schutzbefohlenen«, »Die Maßnahme/Die Perser«, »Kasimir und Karoline«, »Wolken.Heim«, and »Faust I+II«. His era of artistic direction at the Schauspiel Leipzig has been marked by numerous awards and honors (also in the areas of participation and inclusion), and the theater has been invited to numerous important festivals at home and abroad. He recently began staging opera, including the German premiere of Trojahn’s »Orest« at the Staatsoper Hannover, »Wozzeck« at the Oper Erfurt, and in the 2018/19 season, »Elektra« at Oper Bonn. He helme the 2019/20 production of »Tristan und Isolde« at the der Oper Leipzig.
