Denni Sayers


Made her choreographic debut in 1999 at the Royal Opera London (»Paul Bunyan« under the direction of Francesca Zambello). Since then, she has regularly collaborated with Francesca Zambello‚ Jonathan Kent‚ Niel Armfield‚ David Pountney, Nikolaus Lehnhoff, and other leading stage directions around the world. She did the choreography for »Don Giovanni« (Glyndebourne Festival), »Die Frau ohne Schatten« (Mariinsky Theatre, Edinburgh Festival), »Der fliegende Holländer« (English National Opera), »Hamlet« (Glyndebourne Festival), »Der Ring des Nibelungen« (Washington National Opera and Lyric Opera of Chicago), »Turandot« (La Scala, Mailand), »Hänsel und Gretel« (Wiener Staatsoper), »Manon Lescaut« (Milan and Shanghai), »Les Contes d‘Hoffmann« (Beijing), »Don Carlos« (Houston), »Elektra« (Salzburger Festspiele), »Ariadne auf Naxos« (Toronto), »La fanciulla del West« (Opéra National de Paris), »Porgy and Bess« (Chicago), »Carmen« (San Francisco), »Le nozze di Figaro«, and »Rigoletto« (Welsh National Opera). She is also active as a stage director, with productions including »Tosca« (Toronto), »West Side Story« (Tel Aviv) and multiple productions for the BBC Proms, including »The Water Diviner’s Tale«, »Dr Who’« Proms, and »Ten Pieces« Proms. She appears at the Oper Leipzig in the 2021/22 season with choreography for »Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg«.
