Catherine Foster


Studied voice with Pamela Cook (MBE) in in Great Britain in 1993-2013. She was a member of the ensemble at the Deutsches Nationaltheater in Weimar from 2001 to 2011. She has appeared as a guest at the Dresdner Semperoper, the Hamburgische Staatsoper, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Berliner Staatsoper, the Kölner Oper, in Riga, Amsterdam, Helsinki, Barcelona, Sevilla, Nice, Tokyo, Shanghai, Budapest, Bucharest, Essen, Stuttgart, Mannheim, Bremen, and Kassel. She has bowed as Turandot at der Bayerische Staatsoper, at Oper Köln, and at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, as Isolde at the Musiktheater im Revier, as Brünnhilde at the Musikverein with the Wiener Symphoniker, in Bayreuth and Washington, and as Elektra in Wiesbaden, Mannheim, São Paulo at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, at the Dresdner Philharmonie as Eglatine (Weber’s »Euryanthe«). She has held engagements for the »Ring« performances in Odense and at the Bayreuther Festspiele, »Turandot« at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and the at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, »Die Walküre« in Abu Dhabi, and »Tristan und Isolde« in Bern. The current season sees her as Elektra at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, as Isolde for the Mai-Festspiele Wiesbaden, as Brünnhilde at the Wagner Days in Budapest 2022, as Isolde in a new production for the Bayreuther Festspiele 2022 as well as der Melbourne Opera debut as Elektra. She appeared at the Oper Leipzig in the 2018/19 season in the title role in »Elektra« and returns in the 2021/22 season as Isolde in »Tristan und Isolde«.
