Ballet by Mario Schröder | Music by Adolphe Adam, Sjaella a. o.
For his new version of »Giselle« at the Leipzig Ballet, ballet director and chief choreographer Mario Schröder and his team place the following questions at the centre of the evening: Why did Giselle die? Where did she go? The answers to these questions are sought in every scene, which is composed of classical music by Adolphe Adam and contemporary music by the vocal ensemble »Sjaella». The singers of Sjaella give the mute Giselle a voice and are at the same time her emotional echo. They identify with her and, together with the dancers, performatively explore her world and thus our own. The Giselle we are looking for is sought and created in every scene - by talking about people, we bring them to life. We are all Giselle.
