At the Opera Europa Spring Conference in Prague, Fedora and Opera Europa announced the recipients of the first edition of their Next Stage Grants. Among the five pioneers in the fields of opera and dance selected by an international jury of experts is the Oper Leipzig, whose transformation project "Sustainable Costumes" is designed as a cooperation with the Icelandic Opera and is now funded with 70,000 euros.

Oper Leipzig saves energy - sustainably!
The City of Leipzig's own cultural enterprises have decided on measures to further reduce their energy consumption in the coming months and thus make their contribution to the savings targets of the city and the state. The Oper Leipzig is also participating in the additional energy-saving measures in a spirit of solidarity. Our building management has already switched off the façade spotlights before the summer break and has long since switched the lighting in all the performance halls and workshops to LED. Now we are reducing room temperatures to 19 degrees Celsius - in technical areas even to 15 or 12 degrees Celsius - in accordance with the German government's ordinance.
By using advanced ventilation systems, the Oper Leipzig is able to save even more energy. Both the opera house and the Musikalische Komödie have DTHG-certified ventilation quality. In addition, a UV-C system was installed in the opera house. We put events outside our two core tasks of culture and education to the test in terms of energy consumption and cancel them ahead of time.
We kindly ask for your understanding!
